RONALD RUSSELL KRUG

1945 - 2025

MONONA, Wis. - Ronald Russell Krug, age 80, of Monona, Wis., passed away at home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1945, in Auburn, Neb., the son of Russell and Ora (Stokes) Krug.

Ronald grew up on the family farm and graduated from Shubert High School in 1963. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967, spending most of his service years in Panama. While overseas, he discovered a love for golf—an interest that became a lifelong passion. He later married Joyce Winans in Omaha, Neb., on November 19, 1971.

In 1985, Ronald’s career brought his family to Wisconsin, where they settled in Monona— a place he happily called home. He spent 35 years with Pacesetter, installing doors and windows, a job he truly loved. His work took him throughout the Midwest, and he was known for his exceptional customer service and genuine connection with people, often returning home with various foods and baked goods, and once even a cactus. His dedication earned him several awards and trips over the years.

Ronald was an avid outdoorsman whose love of fishing saw him keeping a fishing pole in his work truck just in case an opportunity arose. He cherished camping trips with his family, especially to Wisconsin’s Governor Dodge and Lake Kegonsa State Parks. He especially enjoyed Midwest winters and playing in the snow with his daughter, Natalie, when she was a child. He also had a fondness for Western music and movies. He had an infectious sense of humor, whether through his enthusiastic laugh or the entertaining tales of his youth, Ron brought joy to those around him. He was a generous man, willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He was naturally athletic, having played basketball, football, and baseball in his youth.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Natalie (Mike) Bass; son, John Troy (Sherry) Winans; and sister, Carol Kuker, her children, Brenda Mays, Lori Kuker, Tonya Findley and Sasha Rightsell; and nephews, Tyler Krug-Hill and Dylan Krug and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ora Krug; and brother, Rick.

Ronald’s final resting place will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona, Wis.

The family would like to extend special thanks to his caregivers from Comfort Keepers and everyone from Agrace Hospice Care for their devoted care and support.
