RICHARD J. ALLGOOD
Richard John Allgood, son of Johnnie Andrew and Fern Joyce Wilhelmina (Rogge) Allgood, was born April 20, 1944, at Auburn, Nebraska. Rich was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. Rich started his schooling at Auburn Public Schools before transferring to Peru Prep and graduating high school in 1962. After high school, Rich furthered his education at Peru State College, earning his Bachelor of Education in Fine Arts.
On July 19, 1964, Rich was united in marriage to Carolyn Kay Fisher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. The couple would be blessed with three children: Jeff, Jody, and Travis. Rich and Carolyn made their home outside Auburn, establishing Allgood Acres. Rich lived a life devoted to family and farming, receiving the Outstanding Young Farmer award for 1976 from the Peru Kiwanis Club.
Besides farming, Rich was also a skilled carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. A lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rich served on the church council, sang in the church choir, and often sang at weddings and funerals. He was a member of Boy scouts and received his God and Country award, belonged to the Peru Jaycees and Kiwanis and played on the Peru baseball and basketball town teams.
Rich was a 4-H Leader and sold Renze Seed as a side business to his farming. He liked to restore old tractors and cars and seldom missed attending his children’s and grandkids’ activities. Rich was known to wager full sized candy bars on the outcomes of games with his grandchildren.
In recent years Rich experienced various health issues and because of furthering problems became a resident of Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. He passed away at Good Sam on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents- in-law Lawrence and Vena Fisher, brothers-in-law Carroll Reeves and Ronald Fisher, sisters- in-law Christine Allgood and Laurena Sayer, and granddaughter Grace Allgood.
Rich is survived by his wife Carolyn; children Jeff (Jennifer) Allgood, Jody (John) McDonald, Travis (Melissa Waddell) Allgood; grandchildren Nathan (Mallory) Allgood, Drew (Amanda) Allgood, Kelsey (Taylor) Pyle, Kaley Priestley, Kody (Jackie) Allgood, Faith Allgood (Jayden Kreifels), Fenix Allgood, Dallas Yates (Audrey Arsenian), Andrew Yates (Corey Perry), Dylan Muse (Britneigh Williams), Lynn Muse, Elias Waddell, Hayleigh Waddell (Levi Bridgewater), Tucker McDonald; great-grandchildren Norah, Florence, and Harrison Allgood, Lincoln Allgood, Graham Allgood, Tayton and Tannon Holmes, Daniel Pyle, Kendalyn and Kaidyn Muse, River and Navy Yates, Mazikein and Kap Bridgewater, Aspen and Eden Waddell; siblings Marlene (Robert) Ballance, Marcia Reeves, Phillip Allgood, Jerry Allgood; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Gwendolyn and Charles Wredt, Jerry Sayer; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, with Rev. Jackie Gfeller officiating. Lexie Baack was accompanist for a solo by Nathan Allgood and congregational singing. Casket bearers were Nathan Allgood, Drew Allgood, Fenix Allgood, Dallas Yates, Andrew Yates, and Dylan Muse. Kody Allgood, Mike Henning, Troy Henning, Kevin Reeves, and Kip Reeves served as honorary bearers. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru.
Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home.
