1930 - 2025

Daryl Gilbert Kent, 94, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed on to eternal life on January 2, 2025. Daryl was born to Carl and Lucetta “Pearl” (Patch) Kent on March 1, 1930 in Elk Creek NE. He lived much of his life in Tecumseh, Nebraska graduating from Tecumseh High School in 1947. After attending the University of Nebraska for a short period, Daryl began working for the Campbell Soup Company. He retired as Comptroller from Campbell’s in 1992 after working for them for 43 years in Tecumseh and Fremont.

On July 22, 1950 he married Mary Annabelle Keim of Tecumseh. They started their life together in Tecumseh and to this union three sons were born, Larry, Randy and Danny. While in Tecumseh, Daryl completed building the house he and Annie lived in for over 25 years. He also enjoyed raising Appaloosa horses, cattle, hogs, pigeons and growing many varieties of flowers. Daryl was one of the founding members of the Johnson County Rough Riders horse club. In retirement Daryl took up oil painting and making stained glass artwork. He and Annie traveled to various towns in Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado to show and sell his artwork. For 17 years they spent the winters in Bullhead City, AZ. In the summers when back in Nebraska, Daryl enjoyed pursing his farming interests in Tecumseh and Table Rock. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Daryl was proceeded in death by infant son Daniel Mark Kent, parents Carl and Pearl Kent, in-laws Louie and Lucille Keim, sister Elna Gieser and brother in-law Bob, sister in-law June Heideman and brothers-in-law Harlan Heideman and Mike Keim.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Annie, sons Larry and wife Linda Kent of Broomfield, Colorado, Randy and wife Lona Kent of Poway, California, five grandchildren; Travis Kent, Justin and Tracey Kent, Brandon and Crystal Kent, Regan Kent and Shana and Jeff Gridley, 14 great-grandchildren (10 boys and 4 girls).

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
