The Auburn High School One Act team put on their annual haunted house Saturday, October 24 at the old Middle School, now Central Offices. “The Haunting at Central” didn’t have an overall theme as last year’s performance did, but supporters and scare-seekers still lined up down the block for both the 3pm Ghostly Giggles show and the 7:30pm Halls of Horror show. The first, meant for a PG audience and with a door fee of $5 per child, catered towards children with activities at the end of the show like face painting and boxes full of creepiness to feel blindly around in.
The late show, Halls of Horror, was put on for a PG13 audience. Students were admitted for $10 and adults for $15. Cast members like Kinsley Gerdes, who was a ladybug for the Ghostly Giggles, shifted into alternative roles like the Butcher and did their best to elicit screams and shouts from their guests. Gerdes and Naniahna Boyd noted that the One Act crews had been hard at work setting up the building for two days. “The leadership team came up with most of the ideas and we’ve been planning and preparing since September.” It was also mentioned that a typical tour through the show would take about five minutes. The proceeds from this event will go towards One Act supplies and costs, as well as towards next years spooky show.
