Union Bank & Trust Donates $5,000 to BVT

Members of Auburn’s Union Bank and Trust (UBT) met with members of the Brownville Village Theatre (BVT) to present a $5,000 donation on Monday, Sept. 28 at BVT in Brownville. UBT commented that “Addressing the needs of our community and supporting nonprofit organizations makes our communities stronger.” The ‘needs’ in question for BVT includes the refurbishing of the audience seating in the theatre. Brownville Village Theatre, in celebration of their 60th anniversary, have been working towards a fundraising goal of $60,000 for new cushioned seating as well as other necessary structural improvements to the space. The J. Randal Smith and Jane Crooker Smith Charitable Trust has also generously agreed to match the first $50,000 raised by the event. “We are very grateful for all the local and community support,” Artistic Directors Mitch Bean and Rachel Kay Curtiss said, “As a community-based organization, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the incredible support from our community.”
