“What an honor it is to be asked to write this article about my 100th birthday party for the Nemaha Valley Observer. The celebration was (Sunday) Sept. 6. That just happened to be my twin’s grandson’s birthday.”
“The party was held in Auburn’s Longs Creek Village Assisted Living social room. A banner, 15 feet long saying, ‘Happy Birthday, Harriett!,’ with love and affection from your family and friends welcomed my guests and added a joyful atmosphere to the event. Wearing a new rose-colored blouse and a sash that said “100 and Fabulous”, I felt like a queen on her throne greeting a long line of guests.”
“It was exciting to see so many people, take their pictures, and chat with everyone. The line of guests extended out the front door, across the driveway and into the parking area. Some people mentioned waiting in line for over 30 minutes to wish me a “Happy Birthday.” With the help of staff members, caterers, and relatives lunch was served to over 200 people! It was a wonderful day.”
