Huskey Medals in Fourth Place at JCC Cross Country Meet

Runners at the 2026 JCC Thunderbird Cross Country Meet started out running in a breeze but by an hour later, the hot sun was beating down as the temperatures were rising quickly into the 90s at the Tecumseh Country Club on Friday morning, September 4.
Johnson County Central Schools had two cross country runners finish the varsity race. Edith Blomstedt finished 29th with a time of 40:12.82. Sophia Rainey folowed in 30th place at 40:54.33.
Johnson County Central's Ashton Huskey medaled in fourth place at the Thunderbird Meet with a time of 20:15.65. Senior Jon DeFreece finished 21st with a time of 22:31.72. Jonas Lassen came in 28th with a time of 23:11.46. Harrison Bacon followed in 29th place at 23:29.87. Juan Aguilar placed 40th with a time of 25:29.20.
In JCC's Junior Varsity race, Timothy Johns-Hinrichsen earned a second place medal with a time of 23:35.96. Memphis Pingel placed 11th at 25:28.39. Kael Fricke came in 13th at 25:35.70. Matthew Cruz placed 19th at 26:33.87. Aaryn Kaster finished his race in 21st place with a time of 27:58.65. Chase Harrifield and Elliott Werner came in 27th and 28th with respective times of 39:27.69 amd 30:48.17.
James Francis and Jose Aguilar came in 30th and 31st with respective times of 38:22.32 and 51:44.87.
The JCC girls and boys cross country teams will compete at the Fillmore Invite on Thursday, September 17 at the Hidden Hills Country Club. Races begin at 4:45 pm. On Thursday, September 24, the JCC cross country runners will travel to the Falls City Country Club for the Falls City Invitational. Races begin at 4:30 pm.
