Zhang Optimist Youth of The Month for August

One of only 52 Nebraska High School Seniors to earn a perfect 36 on The ACT test, is among the accomplishments of Grace Zhang, Auburn Optimist Youth of the Month for August.  The May 2026 graduate accumulated a 4.0 grade point average and was tied for first in her Senior Class.
Zhang was in Symphonic and Marching Band all four years of High School, as a percussionist.  She also played percussion while a member of Jazz Band.  She played keyboard for the Musical her Junior and Senior Year.  She was a member of the Speech team competing in Extemporaneous and Informative Speeches.  She qualified for State Competition her Senior Year In Extemporaneous Speaking, placing Third.  The four year member of the Future Business leaders of America, qualified for State and National Competition each of her four years.  Categories included, Computer Applications, Network Design and Website and Coding Development.  
Zhang was a four year member of the Quiz Bowl, was inducted into the National Honor Society and was a member of the Math and Science Club.  She was on High Distinction Honor Roll throughout high school.
She is the daughter of Maokang Zhang andZhi Li of Auburn. She was awarded the UNL Presidential Scholarship and is attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln majoring in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Aviation/Aerospace.  
When reminiscing about her time at Auburn High School, she commented on her favorite moments…”hanging out with my friends at Prom, as well as going around to their Graduation parties and watching movies with them afterwards.”
