After two sets against Fairbury on Thursday, September 3 it didn’t look good for the home team as the Bulldogs were down two sets to none. Auburn kept their composure after a 25-23 loss in set two and bested Fairbury 25-21 in set three and 25-22 in set four to send the game into a fifth and final set.
Heidi Gerdes had a team-high 21 kills against the Jeffs, followed by Emery Taylor with 17. Gerdes was also a defensive force, tallying seven blocks, while Jazi Frey had six of her own.
Auburn led early in the fifth set, but Fairbury tied it at 14 apiece. Both teams had chances to win it, but it was Auburn that came through to take the fifth set by a score of 19-17, beating Fairbury in five sets.
