Longs Creek Village Commemorates Shining Through the Years From Sept. 13 through 19

Residents of Longs Creek Village Assisted Living will join tens of thousands of assisted living communities across the United States to celebrate National Assisted Living Week.
Shining Through the Years is theme of the 2026 observance Sunday, Sept. 13 through Saturday, Sept. 19.
“This year’s National Assisted Living week is a special time to recognize the dedicated caregivers and residents in communities across the country. In our own assisted community, we serve Southeast Nebraska seniors and surrounding areas. We are very blessed to have this facility in rural Nebraska, and every day we are thankful for the staff that continues to go above and beyond for family and residents,” commented Maria Hudson, community outreach coordinator with Good Samaritan-Sanford Health. 
She continued this year’s theme honors the memories, achievements and inspiring moments of residents that reside at assisted living communities. 
Activities offered this week at Longs Creek Village include:
Sunday, Sept. 13 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. a kickoff with a pie and ice cream social. We welcome our families and community to join us. Freewill donation with proceeds going towards residents at Longs Creek. Come celebrate Grandparents’ Day. 
Monday, Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m. Devotionals with Jackie G. in chapel. At 2 p.m. “Star Jar” craft with Longs Creek staff. At 3 p.m. social hour with snacks. 
Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 9:30 Rosary with Bob Engles of St. Joseph Catholic Church, At 10 exercise time with Nikki. At 3 p.m. social hour with snacks.  At 6 p.m. outdoor movie in Neta’s Garden with candy and popcorn bar. 
Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. devotions. At 11:30 a.m. Humboldt Cancer Garden picnic with lunch from Dutch Pantry. At 2 p.m. cards and games with desserts at 3 p.m., cupcakes from Treats by Ashley.
Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. Noodle game. At 2 p.m. bean auction with Maria Hudson, community outreach coordinator as host. Items donated by the Good Samaritan Society foundation.  At 3 p.m. root beer floats for snacks.  
Friday, Sept. 18 from 10:30 to 1 p.m. community and families barbecue with Airstream staff as host. Our community and friends are invited to attend.

National Assisted Living Week was created by the National Center for Assisted Living in 1995 to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for seniors in the United States and individuals with disabilities. The annual observance inspires assisted living communities nationally to offer a variety of events and activities to celebrate the individuals they serve, as well as to help educate members of the public about the distinct aspect of long-term care.
