The two remaining new teachers who joined the JCC faculty for 2026-2027 school year are Linda Jaquez and AJ Jaramillo. Their profiles are as follows and a photo can be found on the back page of the August 13, 2026 issue of the Observer.
Linda Jaquez
Linda Jaquez will be teaching Spanish at Johnson County Central Schools for the 2026-2027 school year. Although Jaquez doesn't plan to participate in any extracurricular activities, she does plan to help whenever and wherever she is needed.
Jaquez is an Iowa native. She received an Associate's degree and Bachelor of Arts degree in Greeley, Colorado. Jaquez went on to earn her Masters degree in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her previous teaching experience includes three schools in Colorado, three schools in the Lincoln Public School system and Southeast Community College.
“I love to learn so I wanted to share that love with others,” said Jaquez. She added that she enjoys the students and her colleagues. She taught English for many years, so she finds it fun to change to Spanish.
“I love seeing students learn and feel good about learning,” said Jaquez. “One of my greatest experiences was hearing from a former student, thanking me for helping her through troubled times and that she was now working with troubled students.”
Jaquez has two sons, one daughter and five grandchildren. Some of her hobbies include reading, water aerobics, crossword puzzles and table games.
Jaquez retired from teaching, although she loved her career. She moved to Tecumseh from Lincoln to live closer to her son, Scott, daughter-in-law, Andrea, and granddaughter, Robin.
AJ Jaramillo
AJ Jaramillo will teach 4th and 5th grade Special Education at Johnson County Central Middle School in Cook for the 2026-2027 school year. Jaramillo will also be involved with Middle School football, and High School wrestling.
Jaramillo is a native of Lemoore, California. He received his degree in Physical Education with a coaching endorsement from York College. Jaramillo previously taught at Beatrice Public Schools, Doniphan-Trumbull and Hastings Middle School.
“I love being able to make a difference and help guide students in the classroom and in sports,” Jaramillo said. He finds it intriguing to be able to guide the students and give them specialized attention. According to Jaramillo, his most rewarding experiences in education have been creating long-lasting relationships.
AJ is the second of four children in the Jaramillo family. He likes to fish, hike and camp. “I really enjoy spending time with my family,” he concluded.
