A motor vehicle crash occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 8. Driver Kevin Groth of Auburn fell asleep at the wheel traveling south on Highway 75. His vehicle, a 2023 Toyota Camry, impacted the rear of Shane Keeton’s 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, which was parked and unoccupied along the highway in front of the Neighborhood Closet secondhand clothing store owned by Project Response, Inc. at 1118 J Street. The impact propelled Keeton’s vehicle onto the sidewalk before it collided with the building, damaging both front doors.

Groth suffered no apparent injuries, though his vehicle was deemed totaled. The damages to the Neighborhood Closet entryway were estimated around $5,000. No drug or alcohol use was suspected of Groth.

Project Response, Inc. Executive Director, Desaray Sardenson, said the store will remain closed until repairs are completed.
