One of the Auburn Legion Seniors' best seasons in history ended last week in the final round of the 2026 American Legion Class B Sr National Division State Tournament with a 4-0 loss to tournament champions Central City.
Auburn entered the tournament as the #7 seed and earned upset wins over #3 Roncalli Catholic and #1 Norris before falling to #5 Central City in the third round of the tournament on August 3. Auburn defeated Roncalli again in the losers bracket to earn a rematch with Central City in the tournament final on Wednesday, August 5.
Auburn was held scoreless in the final on Wednesday, despite earning five hits to Central City’s four. Central City scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and held their lead until the fifth inning, where they would add two more runs to put Auburn in a 4-0 deficit with two innings to play.
