Tecumseh, Auburn Exceed Goals At Can Care-a-Van

The Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership, Inc. (SENCA) food pantries in Tecumseh and Auburn are restocked thanks to the generosity of area residents.

They were donated to the Channels 10-11 Can Care a Van visit to Family Fare in Auburn Thursday, June 25. Tuesday, June 23, 1,333 pounds of nonperishables were collected during the Channels 10/11 Show You Care Can Care-A-Van visit in front of SENCA’s Johnson County location at Tecumseh. It exceeded the 1,000 pound goal. Johnson County Hospital representatives donated more than 500 items. Visiting Tecumseh was Bill Rentschler, KOLN-KGIN TV meteorologist and streaming anchor.
There were 1,051 pounds gathered Thursday, June 25 at the entrance to Family Fare in Auburn, noted Krystal Nickels, family development specialist in the Auburn SENCA office. The goal was 1,000 pounds. The congregation of First United Methodist Church gave 141 pounds.
In Nebraska City, 21,441 pounds were contributed June 25.
Excluding collections in Lincoln, 143,112 pounds were donated during the week. It exceeded the 117,825 pounds gathered in 2025. Twelve of the 18 cities visited surpassed their goals. More than 6,423,029 pounds have been contributed since the effort began in 1988.
Other cities visited last week were: Ainsworth, Aurora, Beatrice, Columbus, Crete, David City, Geneva, Grand Island, Hastings, Lexington, Neligh, Seward, Superior, Sutton and York.
