Farmer’s Co-operative, based in Dorchester, Nebraska, has made the decision to close its Auburn convenience store located at 922 J Street.
“All other services like feed and bulk fuel delivery will remain the same, as well as 24-hour access to fuel pumps,” said Ben Buchanan, senior vice president of energy with Farmer’s Co-operative, in a phone interview.
“This was a long-term decision and not something we took lightly. We do our best to support our communities, and we hate to do this, but financially it was the right move,” Buchanan said, noting they had staffing issues as well.
The store will remain open with reduced hours until July 15.
Also located in the facility is Auto Air and Repair, owned and operated by Tom Stukenholtz. Stukenholtz indicated he has a lease agreement with the company until January 2027. “I am looking for options to relocate. I have been in that location for 20 years, so it’s not an easy process to pick up and move.”
Stukenholtz indicated he hopes to be moved by October of this year.
