Residents of Auburn and surrounding villages and rural areas were without power for a little more than eight hours late Monday afternoon, May 18 into the early hour of Tuesday, May 19.
Ray Luhring, Auburn Board of Public Works (BPW) general manager, noted it was caused by an uncertain object which was blown into the 69 kilovolt transmission line close to 4:30 p.m. All circuits by energized by 1 a.m. May 19. The general manager continued once the circuits were turned on, electricity was restored to Auburn, Brownville, Johnson, Nemaha and rural areas.
Efforts of Auburn area residents in responding to the storm were praised by various officials.
