After a 1-1 start to their first ever appearance at the NSAA State Baseball Championships, the Auburn baseball team were eliminated from the Class C tournament by Roncalli on Tuesday, May 19.
Sophomore Ty Dunekacke took the mound for the Bulldogs on Tuesday and kept Roncalli off the board through the first three innings. Dunekacke would ultimately strike out two batters and allow five runs on four hits as Roncalli gained momentum at bat and turned it into three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth.
The Bulldogs also struggled early on to get in scoring position, but didn’t crack the Roncalli defense until the bottom of the sixth inning, when they would cut the lead to 5-2 after an RBI from Senior Jackson Warner.
