There will be two new faces on the Nemaha County Courthouse team in January 2027.

Seth Hawkins ousted County Attorney Angelo Ligouri while Kim Buchmeier won over District 3 Commissioner Michael Weiss in a four-candidate race for the Republican nominations in the Tuesday, May 12 primary.

Hawkins had 733 votes to 388 for Ligouri with 4 write-ins. Buchmeier had 235 votes, Weiss 201, Marvin Bohling 50 and Philip Gerdes 21. Buchmeier and Hawkins will have no opposition in the Tuesday, Nov. 3 general election as no Democrats filed for either office.
