The first ever state baseball tournament game for the Auburn baseball program ended in a win as the #2 Bulldogs opened the NSAA Class C State Baseball Championships with a 6-3 win over #7 Arlington, the very team that beat them in the district final in Auburn the week prior.
After starting pitcher Gavin Bauer made quick work of the top of Arlington’s batting order in the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs shot out to a quick lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Brycen Meyer popped a ball out to shallow center field that hit the turf at Papillion LaVista South High School, driving home two runs.
The Eagles eventually got on the board after a couple of errors, cutting Auburn’s lead to 4-3 in the top of the third inning.
