AUBURN – Senior Brenton Wenzl capped his Auburn High School basketball career by cementing his place among the program’s all-time greats, highlighted by becoming the newest member of the Bulldogs’ 1,000-point club.
Wenzl added his name to several career and single-season categories in the Auburn basketball record book following the 2025-26 season, closing his career as one of the top shooters and playmakers in school history.
Auburn finished 25-3 this season under head coach Jim Weeks and advanced to the Class C-1 state basketball tournament. The Bulldogs’ 89.3% winning percentage ranks fourth best in school history, while the team’s 25 wins are also the fourth-highest total in program history.
The Bulldogs also established a new school record with 226 3-pointers this season, surpassing the previous mark of 214 set by the 2023-24 team.
Wenzl concludes his career No. 9 in scoring with 1,000 career points, becoming one of only nine players in school history to reach that milestone. He also finished No. 6 in career assists with 204 and No. 13 in career steals with 117.
Known as one of Auburn’s top long-range shooters, Wenzl finished No. 3 all-time in career 3-pointers with 200. His 82 3-pointers this season rank No. 2 in school history for a single season. He also tied his own record – and one held by two others – for 3-pointers in a game after knocking down eight against Louisville
Senior Carson Lavigne added his name to the Auburn record book for the first time in three categories during his final season in a Bulldogs uniform.
Lavigne’s 78 career 3-pointers rank No. 13 all-time, while his 70 3-pointers this season are No. 4 on Auburn’s single-season list. He also tied the school record for 3-pointers in a game when he made eight against Mead on Feb. 5, matching the mark set by Wenzl and Cam Binder in 2017.
Sophomore Brayan Palmer also entered the record book for the first time after recording 42 blocked shots this season, ranking No. 11 on Auburn’s single-season charts.
Ryan Guenther earned his first record-book entry. The sophomore shot 64.6% from the field this season (173 of 268), the fifth-best single-season field goal percentage in school history.
