A banquet honoring Johnson County Central's 2025-2026 Cheerleading Squad was held at Hartman Cattle Company on Saturday evening April 11th. The evening started with a presentation by Darin Lintner of Syracuse, who shared how Cheerleaders are a positive role model.
“If you as a cheerleader go up to a player, whether he be a golfer, football or volleyball player, and show them your positive support, you have a great impact on that individual athlete.” Lintner continued to say that cheerleaders also have influence on fans cheering on the teams. Lintner has served as a Fire Marshal instructor as well as an employee with the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
Special Trophy Awards presented by the coaches were: Outstanding Leadership, Nayeli Bobadilla; and Rookie of the Year, Tegan Topp.
Trophies presented to the cheerleaders based on the cheerleading squad's votes were: Heart of the Team, Josie McDonald; Shadow Leader, Zeke Burki; Ultimate Hype, Sofia Golda.
Crystal Awards voted on by the cheer squad were presented to Tim Hedger as Coach of Year and The Branding Iron, as Sponsor of the Year.
Alumni Presentation: Ariel Gartner represented the JCC Cheer Alumni and welcomed the seniors into the alumni, reminding them to count past 8 and enjoy life, before presenting Memory gifts.
Members of JCC's cheer squad presented gifts to the seniors.
Members of the 2026-2027 JCC Cheer Squad were recognized: Abby Burki, Nayeli Bobadilla, Sofia Golda, Stef Peters, Tegan Topp, Yaretsy Ortiz, Jesus Hurtado, Ulysses Duarte, Heaven Adams, Paige Code, and Sophia Rainey.
Food for the meal and appetizers were provided by Kris's Tactical Karate.
