The City of Auburn is marking a major milestone in 2026, celebrating 50 years as a Tree City USA community.

The recognition was highlighted during the Auburn City Council’s April 13 meeting, where Mayor Chris Erickson also proclaimed April 24 as Arbor Day in the city.

A video message from the Arbor Day Foundation President, Dan Lambe, congratulated Auburn on the achievement, noting the city’s long-standing commitment to urban forestry and environmental stewardship. Auburn is one of only 16 communities nationwide and the only one in Nebraska to reach the 50-year designation.
