The five-year Corrections Workforce Development Pathway (CWDP) agreement with the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) was accepted by the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) Trustees Thursday, April 9. The trustees met at Peru State College (PSC).

Marjean Terrell praised PSC on a “creative and unique program.” She is vice chair and academic and personnel committee chair of the trustees. Paul Turman, NSCS chancellor, noted the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) has a strong commitment to the program. The chancellor continued it is hoped students in the program stay in Nebraska and continue to work with NDCS.
Up to 45 students can be accepted with 43 entering in the fall 2026 semester.
The agreement starts Wednesday, July 1 and continues through Monday, June 30, 2031. The parties originally entered into the CWDP program agreement Friday, Nov. 13, 2020 which was amended three times. It ends Tuesday, June 30. The program allows PSC criminal justice students to complete a baccalaureate degree emphasizing corrections. It combines academic coursework with on-the-job training through an embedded series of employment opportunities provided by TSCI. The purpose is to broadly prepare the next generation of NDCS leaders.
