Families Anonymous (FA) is a worldwide, 12-Step recovery program. It offers support to people whose lives have been affected by someone close to them using mind-altering substances or related behavioral problems.
According to a release by the organizer, FA was started in 1971 for families and friends of people who have a current, suspected or former substance abuse problem. Its philosophy begins with the premise that if a family member or friend is in trouble and abusing drugs or alcohol the whole family needs help. FA is a nonprofessional nonprofit organization. While the program is spiritual in nature, it is not religious and is open to anyone who might benefit.
Tecumseh Meetings
A new FA group has been formed and will meet weekly on Thursdays in Tecumseh starting May 7, 2026 from 7-8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Activity Center located at 333 Jackson Street. First names only are used at meetings to preserve individual anonymity and conversations are supportive and confidential. No dues or fees are required for membership. Advance notice is not necessary to attend a meeting and visitors are welcome.
