Plager for A Purpose Raises $50,000
KANDACE TALLANT, right, board member of Plager for a Purpose, presented a personalized clock to Gary Peters, who accepted the gift on behalf of the Tecumseh Fire Department.

“This year, along with every year, continues to amazes us by the overwhelming support that we receive,” said Kandace Tallant, a member of the Plager for A Purpose Board of Directors. “Every year we are blown away by how amazing all of the people who support us are and all of the new supporters that we receive.” This year, Plager for a Purpose raised over $50,000.

“All of this money will continue to go directly back to the people who we help,” said Tallant.

There were a total of 114 silent auction items, 60 live auction items, and 75 bidding numbers registered. The live auction has always started with selling a coconut cream pie, which was Gene Plager’s favorite. Gene passed away in 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. The event began as a poker tournament honoring Gene’s memory. In the beginning, the pie was always made by his mother. This year, the famous Coconut Cream Pie was sold four different times for a total of $1,675!
