The Sterling girls and boys track teams are looking forward to seeing their athletes perform personal bests in their events at every meet during the 2026 track season. The Sterling coaches are also hoping to qualify several track members to the State Track Meet at Omaha Burke in May.
The Sterling girls have one 2025 state qualifier returning - Kynli Portwood in the high jump.

Sterling’s best performances of the 2025 track season are as follows:
Jocelyn Rathe ran the 60 meter run with a time of 8.79, She finished the 100 meter dash in 13.53; and the 200 meter run in 24.73. Rathe also competed in the long jump and had a personal best of 14’ 8 1/4”.
Dane Holman competed in the 400 meter run and finished with a best time of 61.73. Ellen Winter had a personal best in the 400 with a 71.26.
Sterling’s boys 400 meter relay team had a personal best at 46.96. Runners were Reese Bredthauer, Owen Uher, Callen McAuliffe and Ridge Bredthauer. The Girls 400 meter relay team of Taylor Truscott, Braylee Houghton, Ellen Winter and Jocelyn Rathe had a personal best of 56:19.
In the 800 meter relay the Sterling boys finished with a best time of 1:44.06. Runners were Colin Wambold, Reese Bredthauer, Callen McAuliffe and Ridge Bredthauer.
The Sterling girls finished the 800 meter relay with a best time of 2:07.54. Runners were Taylor Truscott, Ellen Winter, Kynli Portwood and Jocelyn Rathe.
Sterling’s boys 1600 meter relay team of Callen McAuliffe, Dane Vollman, Brody Horstman and Ridge Bredthauer finished with a personal best at 4:05.15. The girls relay team of Ellen Winter, Jubilee Matkins, Lucia Ortega Perez and Piper Kinney ran with the best time of 5:29.13.
Braylee Houghton had a personal best in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 59.28.
Kade Horstman ran a personal best in the 800 meter run at 2:19.23.
Brody Horstman finished the 1600 meter run with a personal best of 5:05.71. Jubilee Matkins ran this race with a best time of 7:04.55.
Colt Little ran his best time in 3200 meter run at 11:35.87.
The boys 3200 meter relay team ran their best time at 9:55.73. Runners were Brody Horstman, Miles Wambold, Colt Little and Kade Horstman.
Sterling’s girls 3200 meter relay runners completed their best race at 13:12.15. Runners were Oliwia Ferdyn, Jubilee Matkins, Ellen Winter and Piper Kinney.
Brody Horstman had a best throw in the discus at 96’11”.
Sterling had two competitors in the pole vault who had personal bests. Bryce Goracke cleared the bar at 9’6”. Taylor Truscott cleared the bar at 7’.
This will be Luke Boldt’s 22nd year as Sterling’s boys track coach and eighth year as the girls track coach. His assistant and volunteer coaches are Melissa Boldt, Sarah Bredthauer, Dylan Steinkruger, Kristie Hollman, Dani Janssen, and Noah Williams.
