JCC’s Girls Track
Season Preview
“Overall, we are looking forward to another successful JCC girls track team. We are hoping to build off the team’s success we have had the last two seasons. We definitely do not have an easy schedule, but this team should be in contention to win or at least be a runner-up in each meet this year. “It should be another exciting year and I look forward to seeing how far some of these girls can go,” said Nick Weber, head coach for Johnson County Central’s Girls Track Team.
Twenty two girls went out for track this season. Returning letterwinners include Madison VanLaningham, Charlyn Bobadilla, Bri Robeson, Harley Lubben, Saige Rother, Catherine Wendt, Molly Weber, Leighton Beethe, Sophia Schmid, Riley Wellensiek, Adree Case and Angel Buchanan.
Track members who qualified for the 2025 State Track Meet were Molly Weber in the 100 and 200 meter runs, Harley Lubben in the shot put and discus, and Bri Robeson in the shot put. Catherine Wendt and Madison VanLaningham have qualified for state in the past.
“Our team isn’t huge, but we have some athletes that perform at a high level,” Coach Weber said. “We also have other girls who will score a lot of points this season for us.
“We are pretty balanced as a team,” said Coach Weber. “We have individuals who can score points for us in a variety of places. We have multiple athletes who can score in the throws, jumps and pole vault. We also have multiple athletes who can score in the sprints, middle distance and distance events.”
