There were 14 aspiring thespians participating in the ninth annual Brownville Village Theatre (BVT) Young Performers Workshop. It took place Thursday through Saturday, March 19 through 21.
“We had a good turn out for the workshop this year. We had nine students in the morning class, second through fifth grade; and five students in the afternoon class, sixth through 12th grade. The students spent the days of the workshop learning theatre games, improvisation techniques, acting techniques and theatre etiquette. Additionally, the morning class was split into two groups and spent part of the workshop putting together a scene and the afternoon class each were assigned a monologue to work on,” noted Mitch Bean, instructor and BVT co-artistic director.
At the showcase Saturday night, Bean continued students presented improvisation games, and scenes and monologues for the audience. The showcase preceded the Saturday performance of the  Young Performers Ten Minute Play Festival. The performances Friday through Sunday, March 20 through 22 drew large audiences.
“Many of the participants that were in the workshop but not in the festival stayed for the show after. It was a full evening of theatre presented exclusively by BVT’s young performers,” he concluded.
