Three members of the Johnson-Brock High School speech team will represent the team at the Class C-2 state meet.
The duet acting team of Clara Heller and Rylee Jeanneret placed second while Charlotte Metschke took third in poetry at the Class C2-1 district meet Monday, March 16, at Twin River High School in Genoa.
Heller and Jeanneret will go to state speech for the third time. In 2024 Jeanneret was on a state duet acting runner-up. Metschke earned her second trip to state.
The state meet will be Friday, March 27 at Horizon Middle School at Kearney.
Other Johnson-Brock entries who placed at districts but did not qualify for state were:
Oral Interpretation of Drama: fourth. Metschke, Heller, Delani Sharples, Jeanneret and Vivian Gerdes.
Program Oral Interpretation: Heller, fourth.
Serious: Jeanneret, fifth.
Team standings: 1. Twin River 272 points. 2. Humphrey-Lindsay 172. 3. Oakland-Craig 134. 4. Aquinus 106. 5. Cross County 104. 6. Johnson-Brock 74. 7. Tri County 38. East Butler and Southern did not score.
