Auburn High School senior Riley Dickerson has committed to play football at Doane University next fall.
Dickerson said Doane stood out for both its academics and athletics.
“I was really excited about the mechanical engineering program at Doane, and the football program, coaches, facilities and culture of the college felt like a great fit,” Dickerson said.
Dickerson will attend the university on both athletic and academic scholarships.
Doane football coach Jonathan Johnson said Dickerson impressed the coaching staff both on the field and in the classroom.
“He’s a tough kid playing at linebacker,” Johnson said. “When we met him, we knew he would not only be a great fit for the team but also for the culture we are trying to create at Doane University. Academics and interpersonal relationships are primary, and football and athletics are secondary. Doane places a high value on love, relationships and character, and Riley has that.”
In 2025, Dickerson earned honorable mention from the East Central Nebraska Conference.
Doane finished 2-8 overall and Great Plains Athletic Conference last fall.
