The Auburn Bulldogs finished the 202526 season with a 25-3 record, earning a fourth place finish in the NSAA Class C1 boys state basketball tournament this past weekend.
The #3 rated Bulldogs opened the tournament with an overtime thriller against #6 Gothenburg on Thursday afternoon. After scoring the first seven points in the quarterfinal game, the Bulldogs stalled offensively, leading to a two-point deficit for the Bulldogs at the midway point of the game. Gothenburg’s lead grew to five points with less than four minutes to play, but senior Carson Lavigne knocked down two consecutive threes to single-handedly pull Auburn from down five to up one point.
With the score tied near the end of regulation, Auburn had a chance to hit the walkoff shot, but the missed opportunity sent the game into overtime.
