Lucia Campbell Optimist Youth of the Month for February

“The first female wrestler from Auburn High School to receive a college wrestling scholarship, is one of the honors of Lucia Campbell, the Optimist Youth of the Month for February.   The Honor Roll Student has a 3.29 Grade Point average and will be graduating Auburn High School in May.
Campbell is a four year letter winner in Wrestling, serving as Captain throughout.  She earned all conference honors and was conference champion all four years of school.  Her combined record was 143-31 with 101 pins.  Her Senior Season she won 94% of her matches with nearly 3/4 won by a pin.  She won MVP honors her Sophomore and Junior year. In state competition, she placed forth her Junior year and was runner up her Senior year.
Winning the season MVP award following her sophomore year, Campbell played on the Soccer team her freshman and sophomore years. She has been on the varsity cheer squad since her sophomore year, serving as co-captain her senior season. She was named female lifter of the year her sophomore and junior seasons. The Cheerleading squad earned state runner-up her sophomore and junior seasons and won the State Championship her senior year.  
She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America.  In FFA Campbell earned her Greenhand degree, Chapter Degree and was a State Delegate her sophomore year.  She was named a State alternate for the LDE Natural Resources Speech in 2024-2025.  she was elected Queen of the Winter Formal Royalty Court.
In community activities, she was an assistant coach with the middle school and youth wrestling throughout high school and volunteered as a daycare at the Community Cafe. She is a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn and is a member of the youth group.
She was a waitress at corner kitchen and a cook at Bulldog Alley her freshman and sophomore years.   Starting her sophomore year she was a lifeguard at the Auburn municipal pool. Her junior and senior year she provided daycare for pre-kindergarten students at Tiny Tots.
She is the daughter of Stephanie and Russell Campbell of rural Auburn.  She plans to attend Carl Albert State College, and earn an Associate of Science before transferring to a four-year university to double major in nutritional science and exercise science. She would like to become a sports dietitian and help athletes perform at their highest level through evidence based nutrition.  When sharing her favorite memories of high school she commented….” most of my favorite high school memories come from wrestling and the time I spent with my teammates and coaches. Others come from hanging out with my friends and enjoying the moments we shared together.”
