Dennis Meyers of Peru, Nebraska enjoys a good read.

“I buy all kinds of books,” he said. “I love westerns, and I read a lot of them.”

So it stands to reason that when a box of books turns up at an auction or garage sale, Meyers is likely to take it home. But during a recent purchase, he found more than just his next novel. Tucked inside were a pair of historical artifacts dating back to the founding days of Peru, Nebraska and Peru State College.
