Bekah Warner, 2020 AHS graduate, was the guest speaker. In 2024 she earned an electrical engineering degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She is an electrical engineer at Commonwealth Electric in Lincoln and is on a team of five engineers. Warner was in the club while attending AHS.
She told the students and their families engineering is related to mathematics and science because it is about problem solving. Warner recalled faculty and student involvement and an internship as factors in choosing her profession. She interned at Commonwealth Electric during her junior and senior years in college. Warner has worked on large projects. Those include the new Mutual of Omaha headquarters under construction at the Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha. She encouraged the students to find out what they like doing.
Laura Osborne, Auburn Public Schools (APS) Board of Education president, opened the program by noting it is a “great tradition” the new members are becoming a part of. She continued the club members will be ambassadors for APS, other school districts and the community at large.
