The weather this winter has been like a roller coaster for me. One week it is cold, the next week it is much warmer. It is through those warm spells that I really get excited for spring garden season. As we move closer to starting seeds indoors, make sure you know what all the information on the seed packet means.
The seed packet contains all the details about how to grow your plants, how to get them started, the size and growth habit, and the lifecycle which would be either annual, perennial, or biennial.
Annual plants are those that live for one growing season and then die. Annual plants don’t regrow from year to year but may return if they reseed themselves, which doesn’t happen with all plants. Biennials grow for two seasons then die. The first year they grow vegetative growth and the second year they flower and set seed then die with a frost. Perennials continue to come back for 3 or more years. They will flower and set seed in the growing season then overwinter and come back the following spring.
