The Johnson County Central Thunderbirds defeated the Elmwood-Murdock Knights 53-34 in the first round of the ECNC tournament at home on February 2.
Elmwood-Murdock had the scoring edge 8-7 by the end of the quarter. The Thunderbirds exploded in scoring during the second quarter as key players, Wes Swanson, Regan Thies, Jack Waring and AJ Rautenbach pumped 22 points through the hoop to control the lead 2915 at halftime.
Wes Swanson made a couple of fast breaks down the court to score baskets early in the fourth quarter securing JCC's 53-34 win over Elmwood-Murdock.
