“It was exciting,” said Shaylee Hartman of Tecumseh, whose Red Angus heifer claimed several honors: 5th Overall Heifer, Champion Junior Red Angus Heifer and Champion in Division V of the Cattleman’s Congress stock show at Oklahoma City on January 5. Her brother, Preston Hartman, showed Reserve Champion Open Red Angus Heifer, and Champion Junior Division III.
Shaylee’s heifer, Shelly, weighs 1,843 lbs., while Preston’s heifer, Lady Killer, weighs about 1,344 lbs. Preston claimed the Supreme Champion Breeding Heifer at the Nebraska State Fair in September 2025.
Hadley Hartman, Dalton and Jill Hartman’s oldest daughter, has also had her shining moments at winning championship titles. The Champion Owned Senior Heifer Calf at the 2025 Atlantic National Junior Angus Show was Conley, exhibited by Hadley Hartman. Hadley also exhibited the Grand Champion Junior Red Angus Female at the 2024 National Western Stock Show. Overall, Hadley has won one championship in Louisville, Kentucky and two reserves, one in Louisville and one in Tulsa, Oklahoma, She also placed fourth overall in a competition in Springfield, Missouri. At the local level, Hadley showed the Champion Market Lamb, Champion Market Swine and Champion Market Beef at the Johnson County Fair. The Hartman children are all members of the West Elk Creek 4-H Club.
