Irish, Wolverines Unable to Hinder Bulldog’s Scoring
RYAN GUENTHER goes up for two points against Sacred Heart defense.

The Bulldogs boys basketball team improved to 12-1 on the season after two blowout wins over Falls City Sacred Heart and Wilber-Clatonia last week. Auburn’s Friday, January 23 game against Nebraska City was postponed due to weather conditions. There is no confirmed rescheduled date for the Nebraska City game as of the time of publication.

Two Bulldogs scored at least 20 points in the Tuesday win over the Irish at home. Senior Brenton Wenzl had a gamehigh 22 points, while sophomore Ryan Guenther was just behind with 20 of his own. The duo combined to shoot 17-21 from the field, leading the Bulldogs to a win with their efficiency on offense.

Auburn stormed out to a 21-3 lead after one period before the Irish finally got their offense rolling. FCSH would score 13 points in each of the final three quarters, but Auburn outscored the Irish the whole way resulting in a 72-42 win.
