The Sterling Lady Jets girls basketball squad faced Bruning Davenport Shickley in the opening round of the MUDECAS basketball tournament on January 12 at the Beatrice Middle School. It was a tough battle from the start but the Lady Jets pulled away with a 47-37 victory.
Taylor Truscott topped the Lady Jets in scoring with 19 points. Kynli Portwood added 14 points. Justice Currie scored five points followed by Braylee Houghton with four and Jocelyn Rathe with three points. Bryleigh Crouse contributed two points.
Sterling was out-rebounded 51 to 33. Portwood pulled down seven rebounds while Crouse and Currie grabbed six and five rebounds respectively. Alex Vollman helped out with four rebounds.
