Building Evaluation Continues after Dec 30 Collision

Building Evaluation Continues after Dec 30 Collision
CONTRACTORS FROM AHRS have started the process to shore up the damaged building. The area will remain blocked and closed until further notice.

Work continues to stabilize the damaged building at 923 Central Ave. in Auburn, owned by Grow Auburn, Inc. since October 2025. Following a semi-truck collision on Dec. 30, contracting firm AHRS is installing shoring to support the affected portion of the structure.

According to a report from JEO Consulting, a northbound semi-truck struck a parked vehicle before colliding with the building at approximately 2:15 a.m. The impact damaged the southwest corner of the structure, which includes a one-story addition on the south end and a two-story section with a basement to the north. The parked vehicle was pushed into the building, causing additional damage to the brick exterior.

Initial assessments indicate the one-story south portion of the building will likely need to be fully demolished. Shoring of the existing floor and roof framing is required before a follow-up structural inspection can be completed. Debris and any loose or suspended brick must be removed prior to further evaluation.
