Johnson County Central’s Wes Swanson swished 30 of the Thunderbirds’ 53 points through the hoop in the second half nail-biting rally to pull away with a 53-50 victory against the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines on JCC’s home court January 8.
Both teams started the game evenly matched, however, Wilber-Clatonia controlled the lead 15-12 by the end of the quarter. The Thunderbirds continued to struggle in their scoring efforts during the second quarter as they only added six points. Wilber-Clatonia stretched their lead 27-18 by halftime.
Fortunately the Thunderbirds came out ready to go in the third quarter and turned the scoring tables around, working together to pump 18 points on the board and were able to narrow the Wolverines’ lead 42-34 going into the fourth quarter of play.
