The battle was definitely on as the Johnson County Central girls basketball team hosted the Johnson-Brock Lady Eagles in afternoon game on January 3. The Lady Thunderbirds were disappointed with a 35-38 loss.
The JCC girls scored early to gain a 12-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. With a balanced scoring attack, both teams put 10 points on the board in the second quarter. The Lady Thunderbirds were ahead 22-17 at halftime. The third quarter proved to be a low scoring quarter for both teams. The Lady Eagles had the scoring edge as they scored eight points to JCC’s six. However, JCC girls still held on to a 28-25 lead going into the fourth quarter of play.
Although the JCC girls continued to shoot well, it just wasn’t quite enough as they only scored seven points, while Johnson-Brock added 13 points to take control of the lead 38-35 as the buzzer sounded.
