On January 2, Johnson-County Central Girls Wrestling traveled to Winnebago, NE, while the Boys made their way to Shelby, Nebraska. JCC Boys brought sixteen wrestlers to the competition and the girls team consisted of two. Altogether, one gold medal was taken by each team, by Erik Prado and Alejandra Reyes.
JCC Boys earned 8th place as a team, scoring 93 team points. Prado was the sole first placer at 113 pounds. Caden McDonald earned third at 106, Braiden Nichols took home fourth at 190 and Ezekiel Burki got fifth at 157. Juan Aguilar at 126, Lee Xayaphonesongkham at 150 and Prestin Thomas at 285 each earned sixth place at the tournament.
The girls, at the Winnebago Invitational, saw only two on the mats. Reyes, at 100 pounds, earned first place while Haylee Trew brought home third at 105 pounds. The JCC Girls team earned 19th place with 53 team points scored.
