According to a report obtained from Auburn City Building Inspector Chris Darnell, 87 permits totaling $3,683,687 were issued for work completed or initiated in 2025. By comparison, 89 permits were issued in 2024, but those projects carried a combined value of $2,079,677, meaning fewer dollars were invested overall despite a slightly higher permit count. The 2025 figures represent an increase of more than $1.6 million in permitted construction value year over year.

Breaking Down the Year January opened the year with a mix of modest improvements and early remodeling projects, totaling $101,000. Homeowners focused on practical upgrades such as cellar access, interior remodeling, garage improvements, and additions.

Momentum increased in February, which recorded $353,212 in permitted construction. Larger residential remodels, a commercial hotel renovation valued at more than $161,000, electrical and plumbing repairs, and new signage highlighted a growing willingness to invest in both homes and businesses.
