After holding Class C2 #2 Freeman to their season low in a win just before the holiday break, the Auburn boys basketball team continued their defensive prowess, holding Kansas opponents Nemaha Central and Sabetha to an average of 32.5 points as the Bulldogs earned two wins in their holiday tournament in Sabetha, Kansas. With the wins, the Bulldogs improved to 6-1 entering 2026.

Auburn allowed 11 points in the first quarter against Nemaha Central, but a 20-point offensive output in the first quarter allowed Auburn to lead by nine points after the first period. Auburn’s offense fell off in the second quarter, scoring only three points in the period, but the defense kept the Bulldogs in front.

The Bulldogs had three players in double figures against the Thunder: Brenton Wenzl with 11 and Ryan Guenther and Blake Swanson with 10 each. Wenzl also had seven assists to lead the Bulldogs to two more double-digit scoring quarters in the second half as Auburn downed Nemaha Central 47-35.
