Nine Shows In Multiple Musical Genres Comprise 2026 Brownville Concert Series’ 35th Season

Nine Shows In Multiple Musical Genres Comprise 2026 Brownville Concert Series’ 35th Season
Todd Murray will open the season marking his eleventh appearance in Brownville.

Those who attended the December Brownville Concert Series Christmas gala were informed of the musicians who will be coming to Southeast Nebraska in 2026.
Season passes are available at $180. You can order them online at www.brownvilleconcertseries.org or call 402-825-3331. In show business, dates and times are subject to change. Please double check the website.
Unless noted, all presentations are Fridays through Sundays. Five of the shows feature previous Brownville performers.
April 10 through 12: Todd Murray, 1964 to 1974, Pop Hits I Grew Up With, But Now I Understand. The Brownville favorite celebrates a decade which shaped many of our lives. His repertoire will include songs from such artists as Burt Bacharach, Glen Campbell, Elton John, Gordon Lightfoot and Chicago. Murray has played Brownville 10 previous times, including five special presentations.
May 15 through 17: An Evening With Sally Mayes. First time at the Concert Hall. She has been called “incandescent, deliciously saucy by The New York Times; “the kind of rich theatrical voice that elevates a show tune” by People and “renders songs as richly nuanced as one-act plays” by Time.
June 12 through 14: Stacy Sullivan, Tornado Alley. Sullivan grew up in Oklahoma, with its wide-open spaces and harsh climate extremes. Her show has been described in The New York Times as a musical weather report about American life through stormy weather, with the knowledge that anything can happen at any moment. It will be Sullivan’s first solo show at Brownville. She sang in Christmas presentations in 2000, 2017 and 2022.
July 10 through 12: SoulRoot Band. Played the Concert Series in 2024. One of the most requested Top 40 cover bands in Missouri. It performs selections from the last six decades. Strong vocals with spot on four-part harmonies, blazing guitar licks and a rock-solid rhythm section is what audiences should expect.
Aug. 14 through 16: Leanne Borghesi, Brassy, Bassey and Broadway. Another newcomer. She pays tribute to Shirley Bassey, who recorded songs from the James Bond movies Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker. Borghesi will sing selections from diverse songwriters including Cy Coleman, Stephen Sondheim and Charles Strouse.
Sunday, Sept. 13: Robert Walters, Oboe. Previously played Southeast Nebraska in 2003. A Los Angeles native who grew up in Lincoln, he is music professor at the Oberlin, Ohio Conservatory of Music. Walters has performed and recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra and has been active as a freelance musician in New York City. He frequently performed with James Levine, longtime Metropolitan Opera music director and the Metropolitan Chamber Ensemble at Carnegie Hall.
Oct. 9 through 11: The Toasted Ponies. Also making their Brownville debut. The quintet combines the best of traditional and contemporary bluegrass music with harmony singing and instrumentals. The unit performs music of the genre as well as a mix of Cajun, Western swing, gospel and Celtic tunes just to keep things interesting.
Nov. 13 through 15: Lao Tizer and Elliott Yamin. Initial Southeast Nebraska performance. Tizer is a piano player, composer, bandleader and former Best New Jazz Artist nominee. Yamin is a platinum-selling American Idol star vocalist. They will play material from Jazz Group of the Year nominee, the Lao Tizer Band’s newest album and video release AMPLIFY.
Dec. 11 through 13: Tim Connell and Company, Tis The Season. Connell was at the Concert Hall in 2023. He combines an aesthetic of story and song. Besides cherished holiday classics, the evening will include funny, irreverent and not so classic holiday selections, as well as reflections and observations speaking to the meaning of this extraordinary time of the year.
