Johnson-Brock FFA took 32 students to the District Leadership Development Events Competition Monday, Dec. 15 at Weeping Water High School.
Students competed in competitions showcasing their public speaking, demonstration and parliamentary procedure skills. Competitors earn a red, blue or purple ribbon and potentially a top-three ranking. Johnson-Brock had two members place in the top three and qualify for the Nebraska FFA competition Wednesday, March 25 through Friday, March 27 in Lincoln.
In Employment Skills, Charlotte Metschke earned a purple ribbon and was the district champion, qualifying for the state competition. Grady Behrends earned a blue ribbon. In Junior Public Speaking, Katelyn Melvin earned a purple ribbon and was the district champion, also qualifying for the state competition. Three members competed in Creed Speaking: Quinlee Sayer, Noah Metschke and Mia Benight, all received purple ribbons. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Layla Miller and Jasmine Cherney earned blue ribbons. Middle school member, Arya Marburger, received a blue ribbon in Agricultural Literacy Speaking.
