Keeling brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, marketing strategy, community engagement and donor relations. Most recently she served as director of marketing and communications at Peru State College. At Nebraska’s first college she led a comprehensive digital marketing transformation that strengthened its brand visibility and community presence.
Her professional background also includes a leadership roles with the Southeast District Health Department, where she managed multi-channel public communications during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was also executive director of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, where Keeling increased membership by 40 percent and led high-profile community initiatives. She also had positions in publishing, sales and stakeholder engagement with multiple organizations.
“Kelcie comes to HUA with a vast amount of successful experience in leadership, marketing, finance, and strategic partnerships. Her passion for animal welfare inspires staff, volunteers, and stakeholders, and the Board is confident she will sustain and grow the organization,” Don Phillips, board president, stated.
“I am honored to join an organization built on the compassion and vision of Carol and Dennis Wheeler. I look forward to honoring their legacy while working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters to build the future of Hearts United for Animals,” said Keeling noted.
In her position, Keeling will oversee shelter operations, donor and volunteer engagement and strategic initiatives that advance HUA’s life-saving mission across Nebraska and beyond.
