Johnson County Central's Lady Thunderbirds hosted a basketball game with the Palmyra Lady Panthers on Tuesday, December 16. The girls controlled the scoring in three of the four quarters to pull away with a 40-22 victory.
The Lady Thunderbirds gained a 14-7 lead in the opening quarter with shots by Molly Weber, Sophia Schmid and Harley Lubben. The girls added another 12 points to the board in the second quarter to stretch their lead 26-12 at halftime.
Saige Rother, Lubben and Ashley Beethe were key players in the third quarter and they scored another 12 points while defensively stopping the Palmyra girls, allowing them only three points.
