The four high school football teams in Johnson and Nemaha counties will have some new district opponents the next two years.
The 2026 and 2027 football classifications have been announced by Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) representatives. An *asterisk before a school denotes a new district opponent.
District C1-3: Auburn, *Lincoln Christian, *Milford, Nebraska City and Syracuse. The Bulldogs played Lincoln Christian the previous two years. The newcomers replace Fairbury and Falls City, which have switched to eight-man football and Wilber-Clatonia, which has dropped to Class C-2.
District D1-1: *Fairbury, *Falls City, Johnson County Central (JCC), Johnson-Brock, * Thayer Central and *Tri County. JCC played Tri County in 2024 and 2025. The four new schools supplant Freeman, Lourdes Central Catholic and Omaha Christian Academy. The latter two moved to Class D-2.
District D6-1: Diller-Odell, *Humboldt/ Table Rock-Steinauer, Lewiston, *Meridian, Pawnee City and Sterling. Parkview Christian is not a district opponent the next two years.
Remaining Timeline
With the announcement of district assignments, representatives of schools will be asked to submit a priority list of non-district schools they would like to have on their 2026 and 2027 football schedules.
After the first of the year, the NSAA staff will establish the football schedules for the 2026 and 2027 football seasons for all member schools in all classes. The schedules along with the home and away designations will be released to the member schools Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.
